Playing a game again soon

Hello Jan,

Last week Friday December 18th I had surgery and the plates and screws form a beautiful  rack. because of this  I was off the air for a while. Hopefully things will go in the right direction for you soon, although I understood last week that it is quite complicated. Thursday December 31 I will be back in the hospital for a check-up and removal of stitches. Maybe I can make a horror movie out of it...

I heard from your daughter Inge that the operation went well. But unfortunately after X-rays it turned out that the screws were not as planned  and that you must now proceed calmly and thoughtfully. So be careful, you have been warned... Bad luck and you may even have to have another operation to straighten it out.

Christmas 2020

Last week I spent a day at home for Christmas. Unfortunately I had to go into isolation afterwards. Tomorrow is the last day of the five. Error in communication. Five other residents also had to be in isolation after the Christmas visit.

After your quick departure from the nursing home, several more chess players came by. Among them is a certain Paul, competition and tournament chess player, member of two chess clubs. Well, unfortunately I couldn't handle a chess game with so much violence. He was soon gone. Of course Arthur, who misses you because he thinks you're a good chess player and thought your comment about the trembling knees was brilliant.  Quite a nice group that is playing chess or checkers every evening at seven o'clock. We miss your company!

Old Dutch New Year's Sleep

For now Jan, keep your wits about you and practice walking, cycling and of course playing chess. Then we'll play a game again soon...

Happy New Year, you probably fall asleep like the rest of the country, halfway through, but you will probably be woken up at five to twelve. Happy New Year to all of you and we will all work hard again next year.

Regards, Willem
